I'm back!

I have a lot of stories from the ride back, but I'm going to make a full write-up instead of summarize here. Basically, I'm home :)

I'm also editing the almost 200 images and 3 hours of footage.

Last night here..

Today was filled with lots of climbing and hiking. I actually ended up getting lost for about an hour, but I had my compass with me so I found my way back.

This has been an awesome trip and escape from things. I have lots of pictures and video of all over the park. I'm laying in my tent now about to pass out. Hopefully, I can get up early tomorrow and be home by dinner. Peace!

Today..

Woke up around 9am to a nice 58 degrees. Its cloudy today, so I don't anticipate it getting too hot.

I started the day off with a nice hike to the top of the canyon. I recorded a lot of footage for the show and goddamn is that a pain.

1 Set camera on tripod and hit record.
2 Hike up ridiculously long path.
3 Hike all the way back.
4 Grab camera.
5 Repeat 3 with camera and tripod.

The view from the top was beautiful though and I'm glad I did it. I was going to eat lunch up there, but I forgot a lighter to light my stove so I'm back down at base. Just got done boiling water for my tasty chicken stew, so I will eat that and go for a motorcycle ride around the canyon.

Theres something.. humbling, I suppose, when you wake up at 430am to take a piss and you hear coyote scrambling around you. Also, it is incredibly quiet. The typing on this phone is the loudest thing I hear.

My god..

I have never seen so many stars in my entire life. The temp is a cool 38 degrees and it is pitch black. The howls of coyotes marking their territories is almost drowned out by the chorus of crickets.

I made my dinner and have gazed upon the stars for the last hour. Now, I must sleep.

Good night. Also I got another ticket XD

Ugh..

I'm in some podunk town about 200 miles in my trip. I kinda forgot a spoon to eat my camp food, so I stopped at Dairy Queen and got a blizzard.

Also, spoons. Mainly, though, Reeces blizzard.

Avg speed is about 80mph. I had a run where I did about 100 for 20 mins, but I'm in this town now and there are lots of cops.

Hoping to get to the canyon by 5pm. We'll see..

Out

Bike is packed up and I'm good to go. Gonna film some footage with a friend of mine and then I'm heading up to the canyon.

Weather is cloudy and cold. I wasn't anticipating rain, but I'm prepared for it. All my gear is packed inside of trash bags inside of the cases, so it's waterproof. I have my rain suit with me incase it does start to rain.

Ok, the road's waiting. ~

Prepping..

Started packing and charging everything. I added some new equipment from the last trip.

In the electronics department, I have a new bike cam. It's the Oregon Scientific ATC2K Waterproof Camera. This thing is pretty neat and will come in handy for riding footage. Shoot, I need to update the GPS on my phone before I go. I'll be packing an extension chord and surge protector for this trip. The campground I chose actually has an electrical outlet, so I can recharge my stuff in my tent.

In the bike department, I have several new things. First off, a new complete set of rear bags made by Cortech. These give me side bags and a top duffle bag that all attach nicely and snap together. I also purchased a cruise control attachment for the bike that'll either a) kill me or b) let me take video while I'm riding.

For me, I have some new gloves. These go over my jacket so no wind gets inside thus keeping me warmer.

For camping, I purchased a new tent and a sleeping bag. I also got some other misc. gear like one of those portable stoves, camp food and some survival stuff lest I falter.

I'll try and get a picture of everything before I head out. For now though, I must go pack!
